Proton Exora 1.6 (A)




The long awaited new Proton MPV was finally launched on 15th Apr 2009. In fact, Proton Exora is not the 1st MPV from Proton but the 2nd. The first MPV was Proton Juara, which was a total failure product from Proton.

Proton Exora comes with 2 versions - Proton Exora 1.6 AT Medium-Line and Proton Exora 1.6 AT High-Line. Both versions are powered by 16-liter Campro CPS engine, whicn can produce up to 125 bhp at 6500 rpm and 150 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. As of today, only 4-Speed automatic transmission is available in both versions. The manual transmission will be available in later part of the year. Top speed for the automatic transmission version of Proton Exora is 165 km/h. The 1.6-liter Campro CPS engine can brings Exora from 0 to 100 km/h at 15.5 seconds.

The price tags also come with 5 years warranty or 175,000 km, whichever comes first. Interest rates for hire purchase is 3.75% up to 9 years.

With another RM 6K, you can get all those extra features. It's really a good deal makes you difficult to reject.
Exterior wise, the Proton Exora looks very similar to Toyota Wish, Honda Stream and Mitsubishi Grandis, which is what Malaysian buyers are looking for. The rear lights of Proton Exora also catched up to market standard with bright LED lights, which is a common feature of today new model.

The side mirrors also fitted with LED turning signals for better visibility.
Exora is fitted with 15" alloy rims and 195/65 R 15 tyres.

In terms of size, Proton Exora is bigger than Toyota Avanza 1.5, Nissan Livina 1.6 and Naza Citra Rondo 2.o. but smaller than Toyota Innova 2.0. It has 4592 mm of length, 1809 mm of width and 1691 mm of height. In terms of Weight, Proton Exora is heavier than Nissan Livina but lighter than Toyota Innova Naza Citra Rondo.

Interior wise, one you step in, you will find it is very spacious. The M-Line comes with fabric seats while the H-Line has leather seasts. Both M-Line and H-Line have the grey trimming for interior. Noise levels in cabin is one of the area many Proton owners are not satisfied with. This time, Proton really hear the noise and complaint from customers. They have done a lot of work to reduce the noise levels in the cabin for Proton Exora.









The audio system can support CD/MP3 and WMA format. It also has 3.5 mm aux input and integrated bluetooth capability. You can play music stored in your mobile phone or any other portable bluetooth devices with the audio system. You can also use the audio system as your mobile phone hands free kit throught the bluetooth connectivity.

Safety features have been given more attention by Proton this time. Both M-Line and H-Line of Proton Exora comes with dual-airbags as standard feature. When the airbags are inflated, Proton Exora will automatically unlocking all all doors to to help passengers getting out of the vehicle easier. On the braking system, Proton Exora is equipped with ABS + EBD. Hazard warning lights will also be activated automatically when sudden braking is applied. Exora also scored 4 out of 5 stars in EuroNCAP crash test. Proton have make one big step forward in producing safer vehicle.



Exora is the first model from Proton equipped with Body Control Module (BCM) unit from Siemens VDO. The BCM controls 24 different functions of Proton Exora electronically such as follow home lights, programmable door locking system, programmable wiper speeds, automatic hazard light during emergency braking, batery saver function to automatic dim internal light, security system, auto block door lock to disable locks in open position for 2o seconds if operated more than 30 times repeatedly, automatic door unlock when airbags are inflated, and unlocking only driver's door with remote control. The follow home function allow you to switch the headlights on within 10 minutes the engine is turned off. The headlights will remain on for 30 seconds to illuminate the dark parking areas. These are the features usually can be found in luxury car but not in the car at this price.

To save your Exora from vehicle theft, immobiliser has been embedded into the key transmitter. The engine will not start without the actual key. If a thief try to start the key with unmatched keys or screwdriver, they key cylinder will keep rotating. Alarm system in Exora is able to keep alarm history and will be able to warn owner if there is an break in attempt.

I think Proton really did their homework and listen to customer needs rather than producing something just to fill the line-up.

Sime Darby Auto Connexion has give the 2nd Generation of Ford Focus a face-lift upgrade. Two variants of Ford Focus are offered to prospective buyers, the Ford Focus Ghia (Sedan) and Ford Focus Sport (Hatchback). Both Focus Ghia and Focus Sport are fitted with 2.0L Duratech DOHC Engine. The 2.0L Duratech engine can produce up to 143 hp at 6000 rpm and 185 Nm of torque at 4500 rpm. Both Focus are fitted with 4-Speed automatic transmission with Sequential Sport Shift.

Besides the new face-lifted upgrade, new pricing is also one of the main attraction of the new Ford Focus. Sime Darby Auto Connexion has made the Ford Focus more affordable with the following price tag:

Previously, Ford Focus 2.0L Sports was selling at RM 121,388 while Ford Focus 1.8L Ghia was selling at RM 110,888. Sime Darby Auto Connexion no longer offer 1.8L engine to Malaysian buyers in this new variants. However, with just RM 2000 extra compared to the previous 1.8L model, you can now get the 2.0L Ford Focus Ghia. What a good deal.

Safety wise, both variant of Ford Focus are equipped with dual front SRS air bags, Anti-Lock Braking System (with EBD), ventilated disc brake at the front and solid disc brake at the rear. Both Focus comes with 16" alloy rims and 205/55 R16 tyres as standard.

Exterior wise, the new Ford Focus looks sportier and more muscular. There are 6 colours available to choose for the Focus Ghia while the Focus Sport has 5 colours option.

In terms of cabin comfort, the Ford Focus comes with dual zone air conditioning system. Driver and front passenger can control the temperature independently. The power window system allow driver to open or close all windows at the same time with one touch button. This is a very convenient feature for you to release warm air captured in the car after parked under hot sun. For the in car entertainment, both Focus Ghia and Focus Sport are fitted with 2-DIN MP2, In-Dash 6CD audio system with steering mounted audio control. The audio system also has auxiliary jack for you to plug in your MP3 player easily.
