Perodua Myvi 1.5 launched

The long awaited Lagi Power Lagi Best Myvi 1.5 has finally launched. Perodua launched 2 variants of Myvi 1.5 - the Myvi SE and Myvi Extreme. The new Myvi 1.5 are priced competitively from RM 50,900, which is lower than expected by many people.

Both models are powered by 1.5-litre DOHC 16V DVVT engine and mated with either 5-speed manual transmission or 4-speed automatic transmission. This is the engine used in Perodua Alza 1.5. The 1.5-litre engine can delivers up to 102 hp @ 6000 rpm and max torque of 136Nm @ 4400 rpm. The manual transmission Myvi can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 9.98s while the automatic variant takes 12.49s to reach 100 km/h from standstill.

In terms of safety, both Perodua Myvi SE and Perodua Myvi Extreme are equipped with dual SRS airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist system. Not to forget your lovely baby, Perodua Myvi is fitted ISOFIX child restraint system. ISOFIX is the international standard for attachment points for child safety seats in passenger cars. All variants of Myvi 1.5 are fitted with front disc and rear drums braking system.

Interior wise, the Myvi 1.5 uses sporty black theme. Both variants get leather wrapped steering wheel with audio controls. On the dashboard, you will get red illuminated optitron meter. Myvi 1.5 is fitted with sport semi-bucket seats at the front and 60:40 split flat fold seat at the rear.

Proton Inspira

The much anticipated Proton Inspira was launched. Proton Inspira is the result of collaboration between Proton Holdings and Mitsubishi. It looks very similar to the Mitsubishi Lancer X. At a glance, there is no difference between Proton Inspira and Mitsubishi Lancer but when examined closer, there is a slight difference in the front design. The Proton Inspira has also been enhanced with Lotus DNA handling.

Proton Inspira, which available in 3 variants - Inspira 1.8 5-Speed manual transmission, Inspira 1.8 CVT 6-Speed auto transmission and 2.0 CVT 6-speed auto transmission. The 1.8-liter engine can produces up to 103 kW @ 6000 rpm while the 2.0-liter engine can produces 110 kW @ 6000 rpm. Among the 3 variants, the 1.8 Manual Transmission has the best performance. The top speed for Inspira 1.8 CVT and 2.0 CVT are 191 km/h and 198 km/h respectively while the 1.8 manual transmission can reach 202 km/h. The Inspira 1.8 CVT and Inspira 2.0 CVT can accelerate from 0 km/h to 100 km/h in 11.4s and 10.5s respectively while the 1.8 manual transmission can do it in 10.0s.

In terms of fuel consumption, all 3 variants required almost the same volume of petrol to perform. The 1.8 manual transmission and and 2.0 CVT Proton Inspira can do 100 km with 6.3-liter of petrol at 90km/h while the 1.8 CVT variant only requires 6.2-liter.

All 3-variants come with 16-inch alloy rims and 206/60 Continental tyre. All variants of Proton Inspira are fitted with 15-inch ventilated disc at the front and 14-inch solid disc brake at the rear.

Toyota Corolla Altis 2010 Facelift - Malaysia

UMW Toyota Motors has officially launched the best ever Toyota Corolla Altis in Malaysia on 23rd September 2010. The newly facelifted Toyota Altis is fully imported from Thailand.

Good news to Toyota car lovers. The facelifted Toyota Corolla Altis is not only upgraded on the cosmetic touch up, but also include engine and transmission upgrade. With the addition of 2.0-litre variant to the line-up, Toyota Altis has 3 types of engine sizes - 1.6-litre, 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre. The ZZ series engine in the existing Toyota Corolla Altis has been replaced with the ZR series Dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with Intelligence) engine. The benefits of the Dual VVT-i are excellent fuel efficiency, more torque at low speed and more power at high speed.

The 1.6-litre engine can produce up to 121hp @ 6000 rpm and max torque of 154Nm @ 5200 rpm while the 1.8-litre engine can produce up to 138hp @ 6400 rpm and max torque of 173 Nm @ 4000 rpm. The 2.0-litre engine produce up to 143hp @ 6200 and 187 Nm @3600 rpm. The 2.0-litre enabled Toyota Altis to compete on the same level with rivals such as Honda Civic, Nissan Sylphy and Mitsubishi Lancer.

Transmission wise, the 1.6-litre Toyota Altis is mated with 4-speed automatic transmission gearbox while the 1.8 and the 2.0-litre models get the new Super CVT-i (Continuous Variable Transmission with intelligence). What you get from the Super CVT-i is seamless acceleration and better fuel efficiency.

Safety wise, Toyota Altis is equipped with 15-inch ventilated disc brakes at the front and 15-inch solid disc brakes at the rear. All variants of Toyota Altis come with Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA). All variants of Toyota Altis also fitted with dual SRS Airbags.

One of the highlight of the new Toyota Altis is the Eco Driving Indicator. With the current expensive petrol price, Toyota has done a good job to educate drivers on economy driving style with the Eco Driving Indicator.

Comfort wise, Toyota Corolla Altis 1.8 and 2.0 are fully equipped with internal climate control air-conditioning system. The air-conditioning system can automatically adjust blower speed to maintain the desired cabin temperature. To make your ride more enjoyable, Toyota Corolla Altis comes with 6-speakers audio system with CD and MP3 support.
